There has been some attention given recently to the person responsible for the murder of John Lennon. A new book and a movie are in the works.
I still remember vividly where I was when I first heard the news that Lennon was dead. San Antonio, Texas. Heading home after work. Listening to the radio. John Lennon had been murdered. I cried for hours.
I wonder how necessary it is to make a movie about the life of the murderer, and what drove him to do what he did. I honestly don't care.
I hope you will all join me in a mass "whatever" and ignore this guy. I won't even speak his name out loud.

You are kidding me! Movie? I'll Pass!
I rmember that day too, though I was a youngster at the time, it effected me to the point where I became a big Beatle and each member's solo act fan. I watched T.V. all day, wnet to town and listened to the radio in mom's car to 24 hours of Beatles/Lennon music (at home as well). Recorded cassette tapes from stereo to a little portable cassette player (lost in a house fire in '87). I mean I turned into a big Beatles freak when that happened. And still am to this day.
I have in my piles of mags, either People or Newsweek stories on the 'unmentionable's" life that came out a little after Lennon's death. The other night I believe 20/20 had a show on it, but it was all rehash of what I already know.
What stuck out though was that someone on the show said he wasn't really sorry for what he had done, and wants to be known/famous for being the guy who shot Lennon.
I don't mean to sound harsh, and I never take death as something pleasurable. I believe only God really has the definitive say so in what he creates and when they die, but as soon as that sorry excuse for a human killed Lennon, I think he should have been put to death as well. For me then I could rest easily with the whole thing, perhaps, because he would become a nobody...which in my eyes he really is.
I read 'The Catcher In The Rye' and how anyone can say that book was part of it happening is beyond me. If I was Salinger, I would be spiining in my grave.
Gotta make a mint though in the entertainment industry because rest assured some sicko out there will be watching because they think the guy who shot Lennon walks on water.
That is just plain sad Michael...I feel the same as you do on this one.
